Badge Information:

Cancellation Policy:
A written notice of cancellation must be received by January 14, 2025 to receive a refund. Cancellations received prior to this date will be honored minus a $100 administration fee. Refunds will not be honored after January 14, 2025. Telephone cancellations cannot be accepted.

Florida Society of Pathologists COVID-19 Policy and Waiver of Liability


While participating in-person at the 2025 FSP Annual Conference on February 14-16, 2025, the FSP will follow suggested federal, state, and local preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the FSP cannot guarantee that participants, attendees, exhibitors, vendors, staff, or others in attendance (“participants”) will not become infected with COVID-19. All participants will be asked to:

  1. Wear masks when and where required
  2. Practice social distancing when and where required
  3. Follow any pathway signage
  4. Follow good personal hygiene practices
  5. Practice self-monitoring & self-reporting
  6. Follow the requirements of the host hotel that are in place at the time of the meeting.
  7. Not travel to or attend the FSP meeting if you are sick or become sick
  8. Take reasonable precautions to ensure your own comfort

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the Florida Medical Association and the Florida Society of Pathologists. The Florida Medical Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Florida Medical Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is designed to meet the needs of practicing physicians, pathologists, and other specialists involved with pathology.

 

STATEMENT OF NEED

The field of pathology is constantly changing, and many of the most important advances in the field. In the setting of new technology, techniques and advancements in the field, practice gaps are inevitable. As such, pathologists require ongoing educational opportunities to stay current in order to maintain and improve their knowledge and competence in the field.

 

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, all participants should be able to:

  • Recognize molecular immunohistochemistry for the differential diagnosis of a wide range of tumor types
  • Discuss the utility and limitations of molecular immunohistochemistry for targeted therapies
  • Identify the limitations of conventional immunohistochemistry for soft tissue tumors
  • Describe molecular immunohistochemistry for the differential diagnosis of soft tissue tumors
  • Discuss the 2023 Bethesda reporting categories, using a case-based approach to highlight differential diagnosis, clues and pitfalls
  • Emphasize the importance of integrating clinical, radiologic findings and use of ancillary studies in formulating clinically relevant, and precise diagnostic reports
  • Describe the scientific basis behind recent screening and management guideline recommendations around primary HPV screening in the USA
  • Discuss the 2019 ASCCP Risk Based Consensus Management Guidelines and the Enduring Consensus Cervical Cancer Screening and Management Guidelines
  • Evaluate intraductal and neuroendocrine carcinomas of the prostate for proper diagnosis and reporting
  • Describe the role of pathologists in choosing and interpreting genomic tests for prostate cancer
  • Recognize common morphological patterns to classify renal tumors
  • Review the various types of renal tumors and how to use IHC and molecular tests to diagnose 
  • Recognize various pathologic and clinical features of Genitourinary tumors 
  • Appraise unique pathology cases
  • Assess pathology knowledge through knowledge-based competition based on American game show

Poster Submission Invitation

Introduction
The Florida Society of Pathologists (FSP) Poster Review Committee invites the submission of posters for inclusion in the Poster Hall during the FSP's 51st Annual Pathology Conference Annual Pathology Conference taking place on February 14-16, 2025 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in Orlando, Florida.  

The purpose of the FSP Poster Hall is to stimulate research, provide a venue to share innovative and effective educational programs, showcase unique research projects, and to encourage networking among pathologists.

All pathologists are invited to submit case-based posters or research-based posters for inclusion in the Poster Hall. Residents and fellows are eligible to compete in the FSP Poster Competition for prizes.

Back by popular demand, residents and fellows who are enrolled in a full-time approved training program in pathology or sub-specialty of pathology in the state of Florida are invited to submit and be eligible to participate in the FSP Poster Competition. The top 48 eligible posters scored during prejudging will be accepted for the Poster Competition. Posters accepted during prescreening but not selected for the Poster Competition will still be displayed in the Poster Hall but are not eligible for oral presentation and prizes. You will be notified by email if your poster is selected for the Poster Competition.

The poster author must register for the conference and pay a poster fee of $50 (included on the registration form). All e-posters must be submitted online once the submission portal opens. If your poster is not selected for display in the poster hall, FSP will provide a refund of this fee. Please add @flpath.org to your email "safe senders" or whitelist to ensure you receive important notifications from FSP.

Poster Submission Instructions
Please read through the submission instructions below before preparing your poster:

  1. Register for the Conference and pay the meeting registration and $50 poster fee. If you wish to submit more than 1 poster, you can indicate this on the meeting registration form.
  2. Submit your e-poster on this website through the online submission portal.
  3. Posters will be screened after submission and you will be notified by email if they are accepted for display at the meeting based on content guidelines. The major reasons for rejection are errors, failure to follow content guidelines, and lack of innovative observations.

General Information and Policies:

  • Lead authors on all submissions are required to register for the conference and pay the applicable registration and poster fee.
  • Residents and fellows participating in the Poster Competition are required to present their poster in the Poster Hall on either Friday, February 14 or Saturday, February 16. Students and all other pathologists submitting posters are not required to present their poster but are encouraged to be participate during poster viewing hours to answer questions from conference attendees.
  • Lead authors on all submissions are required to pay a $50 submission fee for each poster. Multiple posters may be submitted.
  • It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure that his/her poster is submitted correctly.
  • Full disclosure of all authors must be provided by the time of submission. Any failure to fully comply with this requirement may result in the poster being withdrawn.
  • If judges deem that a poster must be edited or updated to be eligible for presentation, lead authors will be contacted by email.

Content Guidelines for Acceptance
Poster entries can only be accepted electronically and must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Innovative original research and case reports with unique or new findings receive priority for acceptance.
  • Posters must have one central theme, include essential data and test, and be visually appealing.
  • Posters must be proofread carefully to avoid errors before submission.
  • Posters must contain generic drug names only.
  • Posters must be submitted in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of quality suitable for publication.
  • Lead and secondary authors must disclose all financial relationships.
  • Any funding support for the research must be disclosed.
  • Encore research is not eligible for submission.
  • A minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 references are allowed.
  • Posters must not contain hyperlinks, videos, GIF files, and must be one slide only.

Checklist
You will be asked for the following:

  • Short poster title (40-character title for use on onsite signage)
  • Author name(s)
  • Financial disclosures
  • Disclosure of funding support
  • Topic
  • Payment of registration and submission fee

The online poster submission does not allow you to save and return to resume later. Therefore, before starting your submission, have all materials and information ready. After the poster is submitted, you will receive an automated email to confirm your submission. If you do not receive the email within 24 hours, please contact the FSP office at posters@flpath.org or call 904-309-6261.

The poster must relate to an appropriate topic in the field of pathology. Poster authors will be required to indicate which topic BEST matches the content of their poster. Topics are:

Poster Competition Eligibility
Authors must be a resident or fellow enrolled in a full-time approved training program in pathology or sub-specialty of pathology in the state of Florida to be eligible to participate in the FSP Poster Competition.

Poster Competition Presentation Process and Awards
Posters submitted for the Poster Competition will be pre-screened for eligibility and then subjected to pre-judging by a panel of FSP judges to select the top 48 to proceed to oral presentation and second judging cycle during the meeting. The first judging will be done before the conference, and it will be a blind review. Lead authors will be contacted by email; in select cases, judges may recommend minor changes to posters prior to presentation. Posters accepted during prescreening but not selected for the Poster Competition will still be displayed but not eligible for oral presentation and prizes. The second judging will be conducted during the live poster presentation at the conference in the FSP Poster Hall, and the resident/fellow must be present to do oral presentation at designated time. The scores from both judging sessions will be combined to determine the winners. The first-place winner will receive $500, the second-place winner will receive $250, and the third-place winner will receive $150. To be considered for the competition, you must be a resident or fellow and you must submit your poster by the submission deadline.

Below are the major criteria in the prejudging cycle:

  • Significance of research or case report
  • Strength and appropriateness of methods
  • Validity of Conclusions
  • Quality of writing and visual presentation (figures, tables, images)

During onsite judging, presenters are also scored on their presentation abilities, explanation of research/case report and conclusions, and ability to answer questions and interact with judge.

Onsite judging times will be assigned for residents and fellows that are participating in the Poster Competition, and authors will be notified of their presentation time. Presentation times will occur on Saturday, February 15 so please make plans to be available on this day. All lead poster authors are required to register for the conference taking place on February 14-16, 2025 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort in Orlando to present their poster to judges

Winners of the Poster Competition will be announced, and prizes will be awarded on Saturday, February 15.

Resident Jeopardy

Join us for the 2nd Annual FSP Resident Jeopardy on Saturday, February 15 from 3:30-4:30 pm in conjunction with the FSP Annual Pathology Conference at Disney’s Grand Floridian.

The goal of the Resident Jeopardy is to:

  • Provide an event where residents can interact;
  • Gain "bragging rights" for the year by taking the FSP Jeopardy Championship trophy home with your team;
  • But most of all, have FUN!

The FSP invites all pathology residency programs in the state of Florida to submit a team for the Resident Jeopardy competition. Each team can have up to 4 members, and we would like to encourage residents from all levels of the training program to be represented on the team. The FSP will award the winning residency program team a “traveling” trophy at the conclusion of the game to keep at your program for the year until the next FSP annual meeting. Teams are encouraged to show their enthusiasm with a team name, team logo, matching t-shirts, hats, etc.

Rare and Interesting Case Competition

 

Pathology is fun, but it can also be hard! Every day, we are faced with challenging cases that require us to open books, read new articles, consult our friends and colleagues, and sometimes consult the experts. Join us on Saturday, February 15 from 2:30 to 3:30 to highlight the top 5 cases submitted. Each case will be presented, and attendees can view the slides ahead of the meeting.

The Florida Society of Pathologists is excited to announce that we will be using PathPresenter’s digital pathology software to host our "Rare and Interesting Cases" session this year. All attendees will have access to the digital pathology platform to view and assess the 5 cases online ahead of the meeting, as well as for review during the in-person session.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote on their favorite case at the end of the session on the mobile app and the top case will win a prize!
