The FSP, in collaboration with FLASCO, hosted the inaugural Pathology + Oncology Interactive Symposium: A Precision Medicine Partnership for Better Patient Care meeting on Saturday, November 6 in Orlando, FL. This innovative and interactive symposium brought together 22 pathologists and oncologists and 15 sponsor representatives from Florida to discuss the recent advancements in utilizing precision medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The Pathologists and oncologists from their individual healthcare settings attended with each other to discuss best practices and strategies to take back home with them to implement in their own practice settings.

The symposium began with a networking lunch followed by educational lectures. Dr. Socinski gave the first lecture on Molecular Testing for the Oncologist: Challenges and Opportunities for Collaboration with Pathologists followed by a lecture given by Dr. Karcher titled The Pathologist-Oncologist Alliance: Mutual Needs, Mutual Benefits. Dr. Zhai gave a lecture titled A Case Based Discussion: Interactions Between the Pathologist and Oncologist. The meeting ended with open discussions and Q and A followed by dinner.
Preliminary feedback received from attendees and sponsors onsite was overwhelmingly positive and there is a great interest to make this an annual event.
