What is your current role?
I am the Medical Director of Laboratory Services & Primary Pathologist at St. Joseph's South Hospital & FSP Membership Chair.
What is the best part of your occupation?
Helping patients get the appropriate therapy through accurate diagnosis. Learning about new pathologies every day.
How did you become interested in pathology?
I always liked microscopic things and microscopes. I was introduced to pathology by Dr. Gomez and Dr. Poppiti at the University of Miami.
How did you become involved with the FSP?
I was introduced by Dr. Poppiti during medical school. I was highly encouraged to become involved by Drs. Cerezo, Li and Pearl at Orlando Regional.
Explain how you benefit from being a member of FSP?
1. Learning about new pathologies. 2. Being a better pathologist. 3. Seeing old friends. 4. Being aware of problems we face as pathologists 5. Getting practical CMEs.
What would you like to see occur in the field of pathology (i.e., scientific advances, greater awareness of the field, etc.) during your career?
I would like to see more scientific advances and greater recognition of the importance of our field.
What are your hobbies outside of the office?
I enjoy attending sportscar races with friends, boating on Tampa Bay with my wife, spending time with family & hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
What is something surprising that most people do not know about you?
People who do not know me well might be surprised that I enjoy working with my hands such as woodwork, home improvements, mechanical things, etc.

That I love the FSP and my role there!
