The 44th Annual Anatomic Pathology Conference was held on February 16 through 18 in Orlando at the Grand Floridian Hotel. The conference was well attended with approximately 260 pathologists and 42 vendors representing the best laboratories, products and services in pathology.

There was record attendance at the FSP’s 2018 Summer Conference held on July 21-22 in Palm Beach, Fla. at the Breakers Hotel with 135 attendees from not only Florida but all over the United States!

The FSP hosted its first-ever virtual conference on February 12 to February 14 and welcomed over 410 participants from across the world to the conference. Pathologists from over 45 countries and 170 major cities tuned into the FSP virtual platform to hear from expert faculty during live question and answer sessions, microscopy sessions and a live roundtable discussion on COVID-19 testing and treatment.

The Florida Society of Pathologists hosted its Summer Pathology Conference on July 17-18, 2021 in Palm Beach at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. This was FSP’s first meeting back in-person after a long 16+ months due to the pandemic. The FSP welcomed over 110 attendees from all over the state of Florida and across the country as well as 20+ sponsors who graciously supported the FSP’s efforts to host the summer conference.

The FSP, in collaboration with FLASCO, hosted the inaugural Pathology + Oncology Interactive Symposium: A Precision Medicine Partnership for Better Patient care meeting on Saturday, November 6 in Orlando, FL. This innovative and interactive symposium brought together 22 pathologists and oncologists and 15 sponsor representatives from Florida to discuss the recent advancements in utilizing precision medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The FSP hosted its 46th Annual Pathology Conference on February 14 to February 16, 2020 in Orlando, Florida at the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort . Over 230 pathologists and 43 exhibitors joined us for a fun-filled and educationally packed weekend. The conference featured new breakout sessions on read slide sessions featuring additional pathology topics and innovative sessions on digital pathology as well as an informative lecture on Physician Wellness.

This month we are excited to feature Jesse Kresak, MD, who has been a member since 2014 and is on the Education Committee of FSP.

This month we are featuring Qihui "Jim" Zhai, MD, FCAP. Dr. Zhai serves on the FSP Board of Directors and is currently President-Elect and Chair of the Education Committee. Dr. Zhai is running for the CAP Board of Governors during this election cycle beginning July 23rd, 2019.  We are proud to support his efforts joining CAP’s leadership. We are confident that Dr. Zhai is going to be a great asset to the missions of CAP. He will propel the members’ interests in education, career development, and advocacy. Welcome to this edition of the FSP member spotlight. Every month we will highlight a different FSP member who is doing exciting things in the field of pathology. This month we are featuring Ronald Giffler, MD, JD, FCAP. Dr. Giffler has been active member of the FSP since 2007 and is a regular FSP conference attendee.

This month we are featuring Vatsal P. Patel, MD. Dr. Patel was recently appointed in February as an At Large Member to the FSP Board of Directors after many years of supporting the FSP through attendance at the FSP educational conferences.
