This month we are featuring Khaled Algashaamy, MD. Dr. Algashaamy was recently appointed in February as the Resident Liaison to the FSP Board of Directors. He is also the Chair of the Resident Committee and the Co-Chair of the Communications Committee.

This month we are featuring Vatsal P. Patel, MD. Dr. Patel was recently appointed in February as an At Large Member to the FSP Board of Directors after many years of supporting the FSP through attendance at the FSP educational conferences.

The Continuing Board Certification: Vision for the Future Commission released its final report on February 12, 2019 to the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Board of Directors. The report included a set of recommendations and calls on ABMS boards to make continuing certification programs more meaningful, relevant and of value to key stakeholders.

FSP Legislative Consultant, Amy Young, provides an update of the Florida Legislative Session as of week three. We are actively monitoring several bills for the best interests of our pathologist members.

A message from FSP President, Dr. Morton Levitt

The FSP hosted its 45th Annual Pathology Conference on February 22-24 in Orlando, Florida at the Contemporary Resort. Over 230 pathologists and 43 exhibitors joined us for a fun-filled and educationally packed weekend. The conference featured new breakout sessions on read slide sessions featuring additional pathology topics and innovative sessions on digital pathology as well as an informative lecture on Physician Wellness.

New Slate for Board of Directors Announced!

This month we are featuring Nicole Riddle, MD. Dr. Riddle joined FSP during her training and was recently appointed in February as an At Large Member to the FSP Board of Directors.

This month we are featuring Robert Poppiti, MD, FCAP. Dr. Poppiti has been active member of the FSP since 2007 as a regular FSP conference attendee, you are likely to see him at every FSP conference!

The FSP Nominating Committee, chaired by Immediate Past President Margaret Neal MD, recommends the following slate of candidates for Executive Committee, At-Large Member Board and Committee Chairperson positions for the 2019-2021 term. The FSP membership will vote on this slate during the Annual Business Meeting to be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in conjunction with the 45th Annual Pathology Conference in Orlando, FL.
