ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the Florida Medical Association and the Florida Society of Pathologists. The Florida Medical Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Florida Medical Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS
Statements of credit/participation will be awarded based on the participant’s attendance at each session and submission of the activity evaluation form. TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the needs of practicing physicians, pathologists, and other specialists involved with pathology.

STATEMENT OF NEED
The field of pathology is constantly changing, and many of the most important advances in the field. In the setting of new technology, techniques and advancements in the field, practice gaps are inevitable. As such, pathologists require ongoing educational opportunities to stay current in order to maintain and improve their knowledge and competence in the field.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, all participants should be able to:

  • Review the diagnostic criteria for myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms
  • Recognize diagnostic criteria for myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia
  • Review differential diagnostic approaches to myeloid neoplasms through a case-based format
  • Discuss the basic pathologic features of select skin adnexal tumors
  • Utilize appropriate diagnostic features including select ancillary testing for the correct diagnosis for skin adnexal tumors
  • Discuss the basic clinical and pathologic features of myxofibrosarcoma, angiosarcoma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
  • Discuss the basic clinical and pathologic features of select skin and soft tissue tumors
  • Discuss endometriosis-associated tumors and their differential diagnostic clues to distinguish them from potential mimics
  • Review the advantages and limitations of the molecular classification for endometrial carcinoma and the relevant and controversial points of the 2023 FIGO staging system
  • Discuss ovarian tumors and their differential diagnostic clues to distinguish them from potential mimics
  • Recognize diagnostic features and differential diagnosis in the evaluation of gynecologic neoplasms
  • Discuss evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk of medical error and improve the safety of patients  
  • Review how to use social media for building professional reputation and network
