2021 Pathology + Oncology Interactive Symposium Highlights

The FSP, in collaboration with FLASCO, hosted the inaugural Pathology + Oncology Interactive Symposium: A Precision Medicine Partnership for Better Patient care meeting on Saturday, November 6 in Orlando, FL. This innovative and interactive symposium brought together 22 pathologists and oncologists and 15 sponsor representatives from Florida to discuss the recent advancements in utilizing precision medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Update on Cigna PC of CP Payment Policy- Feedback Requested

As you will recall, in June the FSP, along with the CAP, and many other state pathology societies, successfully halted Cigna from discontinuing the reimbursement to pathologists for the professional component of clinical pathology. However, as of late, Cigna has reintroduced the policy and intends to discontinue reimbursement of the professional component. The FSP would like to hear from you regarding this policy change. Communicating and supporting our members is important to us and we appreciate your time in completing a short survey.

FSP Attends Florida Medical Association

The Florida Society of Pathologists attended the 2021 Florida Medical Association Annual Meeting and House of Delegates on July 29 through August 1 in Orlando, Florida. The FSP has 3 seats to the delegation. FSP delegates in attendance included Marilyn Bui, MD, PhD, Harvey Feld, MD and Janice McCall, MD.

FSP's 2021 Summer Pathology Conference Highlights

The Florida Society of Pathologists hosted its Summer Pathology Conference on July 17-18, 2021 in Palm Beach at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. This was FSP’s first meeting back in-person after a long 16+ months due to the pandemic. The FSP welcomed over 110 attendees from all over the state of Florida and across the country as well as 20+ sponsors who graciously supported the FSP’s efforts to host the summer conference.
